Thats me, on the left of my two brothers.
The way I saw it as a wee boy growing up in Rockford, Illinois, sports writing was for the dopes who couldn't actually cut it on the playing field. As it turns out, I was right.
After my own athletic career fell significantly short of a seven-figure signing bonus, I decided to study journalism at Arizona State University with designs on getting into sportswriting. I covered major college sports for the school's student-run daily, The State Press, for one year before eventually landing in Port Angeles, Washington, at the Peninsula Daily News.
During the past six years at the PDN, I've maintained a twice-weekly outdoors column while also serving as an assistant sports editor and lead reporter.
